Text Message Marketing

As brands focus efforts on keeping up with broadcasting trends across social platforms like Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest, many are neglecting a tried and true marketing tactic that could propel them even further: narrowcasting.

Narrowcasting marks an emerging trend by which consumers are sharing content with smaller, more selective audiences. In contrast to broadcasting, narrowcasting is about tailoring information to better compel the recipients. It’s a competitive alternative, as evidenced by this infographic from Mogreet. While broadcasting gets a brand’s message out to a massive group of people, when it comes to who is actually reading and engaging with the content, the numbers are staggeringly low.

For example, 84% of Facebook news feed stories aren’t viewed, 71% of tweets get ignored and 88% of emails go unopened. Meanwhile, 98% of text messages are opened, and therefore, companies that market through SMS/MMS have a far truer reach.

Do these statistics surprise you? If you’re a broadcaster, does this graphic make you want to give narrowcasting a try? Share with us in the comments.

The Kalaja Karsts Area is a wonderful destination for tourists in General Santos City. The area is about 15 kilometers from General Santos City’s northeast side at Barangay Conel. The name Kalaha Karsts Area is derived from the word Kalaha, which means frying pot due to the formation of the karsts made millions of years ago. Waterfalls and caves are abundant in this area.

Abu Dhabi in satellite dish crackdown

Abu Dhabi has become the latest emirate to crackdown on satellite dishes raising fears of increased costs for property owners, UAE daily The National reported on Monday.

Under the new rules, restrictions will be imposed prohibiting more than four dishes on a building, especially if they ‘disfigure the appearance of the city’, the report added.

The rule comes a week after the northern emirate of Sharjah announced a complete ban of satellite dishes in a bid to improve the overall appearance of the city.

In Dubai some communities have similar rules and have even banned washing being hung out on driers on balconies.

Many older buildings in the UAE capital have many satellite dishes and trailing cables. But newer buildings have a centralised satellite system that provides all occupants with television, the report explained.

“In the cases where there are many dishes, the management will be responsible for centralising the system, and that can be expensive,” said Nirmal Kumar, a sales manager for Vision Electronics, told the newspaper.

The report said there had been nothing reported on fines or penalties at this stage, but the municipality told the newspaper it would ‘not tolerate the existence of a potential threat to the health and safety of occupants and tenants, as well as property management staff and passers-by’.
